Curcumin is a chemical compound found in the Indian spice turmeric. Tumeric has been used for thousands of years in Indian and Chinese traditional medicine to treat a wide range of medical problems from joint pain and snake bites to gastro-intestinal diseases.  Curcumin, the active ingredient responsible for these therapeutic advantages, has been isolated and researched extensively since the 1950s.  You should know that the spice turmeric contains between 2-4% active Curcumin.  INTESTI CURC™ contains 95% active Curcumin which basically means it is around 20 times as potent as the traditional remedy!

ITS Medical co-founders Prof. Shomron Ben-Horin and Nir Salomon are both leading experts in conventional and integrative medicine with extensive research and clinical experience. Realizing the current unmet medical need in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, they started in 2010 to research Curcumin with an aim to develop a product that would be specifically designed to treat intestinal inflammation.  They conducted in-vitro (laboratory) studies which showed Curcumin had a inhibitory effect on pro-inflammatory cells.  Knowing that many patients with inflammatory bowel disease are taking 5ASA drugs such as mesalamine, Nir Salomon and Prof. Ben-Horin further researched Curcumins interaction with these drugs and showed that they not only complemented each other’s anti-inflammatory actions but that Curcumin also possessed anti-inflammatory properties which melsamine did not.  The research results were presented at the World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO) conference in Shanghai in 2013.

This study set the stage for a clinical trial with INTESTI CURC™ in ulcerative colitis.  In order to critically test INTESTI CURC™, Prof Ben-Horin & Nir Salomon have designed with additional expert colleagues a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study which was conducted in three different medical centers in Israel, Hong Kong and Cyprus.  The results of the study showed that Cur-cure™   was effective in inducing remission in patients with active ulcerative colitis who have failed treatment with conventional mesalamine.  Within four weeks alone Cur-cure™ induced clinical remission in over 60% of patients.  The study was published on the front cover of the prestigious medical journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology in August 2016 and was awarded YIA first prize in the IDDF conference in Hong Kong.  Read more about the researches with Cur-cure™ HERE (link to cur-cure research page)

In most IBS patients there is an active microscopic inflammatory process in the mucosal layer of the intestines.  Therefore, it’s not surprising that many IBS patients treated with INTESTI CURC™ report that it helped improve their symptoms and quality of life.  Having said that, although our clinical experience suggests INTESTI CURC™ is effective in treating IBS, we haven’t yet conducted a clinical trial in this field.
